Burning Man 1996: On the Ground
People are allowed to drive their personal motorized vehicles (including unadorned motorcycles and cars) around. It's kind of annoying because nobody drives slowly, and we're just awash in dust. I could really do without moving motors. I did enjoy our trip to the open playa but would gladly give it up for a pedestrian Black Rock City.
Here's the lady neighbor who has a motocross bike whih seems to be bigger than she is.
Now this is a conveyance of which I approve! I like the elevated bike and the sidecar platform.
The giraffe bike; bright and seen all over the city.
More neighbors with motorcycles.
A more modern, slightly smaller penny-farthing bicycle.
This one was just amazing at night, near any bright lights.
I'm very impressed by these home-made bicycles.
Same bike, different - and much more enthusiastic - passenger.
The tiara balls couple.
They wanted copies of these pictures, which I posted here just aver the event. But no email from them. Nonetheless, I hope they (and you) enjoy these pictures.
Her sweetie.
Human-powered vehicles rule!
One of several self-powered couches. The best of them had a self-powered side-table with a lamp on top, which accompanied the couch on its travels.
When you're tooling around the playa it's even more important to have sun protection (like this hat) and water (maybe her partner is carrying it).
A bicycle with a pyramid obelisk mounted in the front basket. The rider loved being a moving art object.
Let's finish up our playa tour by checking out a panorama.
