2004-12 Gran Canaria: The Vomit Comet

Friday 24 December 2004

At 02.00, as I was creating the previous page, Isaac rolls over and vomits; mostly on the bed between us.

I clean us, and the bed, up. I cover the bed and Isaac's pillow with extra towels. The next hour is fitful, until Isaac sits up and I take him to the bathroom. There he reluctantly vomits a bit more. Then he calls for Mama, and they sleep in the living room whilst I join Lila in the bedroom.

The morning is better. Everyone is feeling better, and even though we head out to Finnegan's we're mindful of getting gentle things into Isaac's stomach. Beverly can be seen at right.

It's Christmas Eve day, and things are closing down all around us, so I run down the Avenida de Alfereces Provisionales to the Backerei Zipf to grab some whole-grain breads for Omi Marga and some bretzel (pretzels) for the kids.

I give Lila a bath, and Isaac comes in to pose with us.

Shabbos dinner with Omi Marga. Isaac is preparing to hide.

Omi convinces the kids to hide their eyes while she bedecks their plates with sweets.

Which delights Lila to no end. The gingerbread stars were eaten with gusto; the chocolate clusters hid some orange, which didn't pass their muster. I liked them, though.

We strolled around after dinner, winding up at C. C. Yumbo, where we saw some Scandinavians loudly singing and dancing Christmas tunes. We think they were Finns. A lot of fun for all of us.
