2003 Gran Canaria: Two Bags Arrive Saturday 11 January 2003 The kids were ready to crash at 18:00 last evening, but we kept them up until 22:00 by strolling through the Yumbo Centrum. (I wanted to push the acclimatization process; time zones can take the fun out of a vacation.) It seems to have worked; everyone slept through until 09:00 and woke up in a good mood. This is very good. The boys club went downstairs to the supermercado to buy a few staples: edamer and jounge gougda cheese, poppy-seed brodchen, fresh fruits, etc. We head upstairs to Omi's for breakfast. Mmmmmmm. Again I call Iberia. "What," they ask, "you haven't gotten any bags yet?" It seems that two bags should be at LPA, with two more coming in from MAD this evening. They ought to be here anytime at all. Good news, but without our bags we're getting close to needing some more things for the kids, so we're back across the street to Yumbo for a bathing diapers for Isaac, etc. I also get refridgerator magnets, toys for kids, and some postcards. In the afternoon we return for the daily coffee and cake at Omi's. We try to get Isaac to nap before dinner, which he doesn't. Today is the semi-monthly special of chateaubriand at the Deutche Gasthaus, which is just wonderful. The meat, the veggies, the sauce, the caffè leche! Just as we're finishing our meal all our delayed luggage arrives in the lobby, courtesy of a very bewildered driver. He humped those bags all by himself, poor bugger. Sorry dude, you should have found us first. After the family goes to sleep I come back downstairs with the laptop. Then I notice that the nextPrev links for the 1999 Canary Islands trip are broken. Now they're fixed.
