Album 1999.10.03 (c)

From the park we returned to the Castro by MUNI. The fog obliterated what little of the sun had been seen, and we bundled Isaac up in his new hats purchased at the fair: a tie-die FlapHappy and a rainbow-pattern crochet hat (complete with three pom-poms). In Boston we used to say "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute" but in San Francisco the equivalent would be "If you don't like the weather, walk a few blocks". According the the wall chart hanging in one of our local florist shops, San Francisco has seventeen (!) distinct weather zones, from the windy Sunset neighborhood to the hot and dry Mission district. I love it.

Isaac is well known at Daimaru Sushi, on the corner of Sixteenth Street and Sanchez. He loves cooing at the neko, the cat statues, and has the wait staff trained to play the "I just might let you pick me up" game, although he usually turns away at the last second, cackling with pleasure. Then he tries it again.

Here you see him with a sushi wheel. I'd like to say we're teaching him the basics of restaurant Japanese, but the truth is he just likes spinning the pointer. Perhaps in a few months :-)

Have I mentioned recently how much of a ham our little tyke can be? Whenever he hears the whirr of the telephoto lens, whether it's on the analog or digital cameras, he stops whatever he's doing and poses.

It's really quite a challenge to get a candid photo of Isaac. Rose does an excellent job, sometimes taking hundreds of snapshots (with the digital) to catch our boy in the act.

Thanks so much for coming along with us today.

Have you found errors nontrivial or marginal, factual, analytical and illogical, arithmetical, temporal, or even typographical? Please let me know; drop me email. Thanks!
