2000 Amsterdam - Views

April 2002, continued

I can't remember in which museum I saw this drawing of a bird's-eye-view of Amsterdam. It's a good view; it's easy to see how the Dutch are fighting back the sea.

As we stroll along the canals we come across this statue of a young girl. We look around and realize that we're at Anne Frank Huset (SPELLING?), the house in which Anne Frank hid from the Nazis during World War II. We brave the line and take the tour. Impressive.

To clear our heads after such a sobering presentation we continue along the canals, stopping to get STROUPKUCHEN (molasses-filled wafer sandwiches). The views are breathtaking from pretty much any vantage point. Amsterdam is a beautiful city.

Sister-in-law Pamela finds the steepest steps we've found. Someone walks up these early every morning :-)

Still we find more views of Amsterdam.
