1998 Italia: Cortina d'Ampezzo - Around Town Here are a few more pictures of the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo; others have been placed into the other subject-specific pages. These are the leftovers. Here is a thumbnail of a panorama of the town marketplace. You can see the vendors plying their wares. ![]()
Each morning we awoke to the beautiful sounds of the church-bells. Our room had a view of the steeple (but not much else).
You've seen the sumptuous fittings of our breakfast salon, but you've not yet seen the concierge station. The staff at the Royal were friendly, present around the clock, and conversant enough in English (even though Mom speaks fluent French and Felicia's isn't too bad. Me? These are the front and rear views of a statue of a nude woman rendered in silver- and gold-colored metals.
She appeared in front of one of the hotels, in which the gallery was showing this artist's work.
Lots of similar flowing things, including dolphins and horses. Other human figures too.
This, and the two images which follow, are taken from a business in town, a carpet seller. It was one of the most beautiful retail establishments we saw: lots of old wood with deep, richly colored carpets. From the front one could see a choice of Russian icons. It was right around the corner from the ski shop from which we rented a few things; the receipt is at right....
