I frequently play with the look and feel of this web site. Some have seen the light of day, others never made it past several frenzied hours of playing around with layouts and graphic elements (like my experimentation with JavaScript rollovers).

There was a time that I used graphic buttons at the bottom of each page, rather than the text links I use today. For a time I wanted to go with what I called a "floating tilebar". I was planning on doing something like what you see here in conjunction with an image map. After all was said and done it seemed too inelegant, too much graphics and too much work for what could be a rather simple thing.
