Album 2002.03.18

By some extremely strange coïncidence the pictures we picked don't include Isaac. So it goes. You saw him last time, you'll see him next time.

One of our favorite pastimes, when it happens that we pass a mirror, is to play the Who is THAT? game. I say it, with varying amounts of comic camp, and Lila whips her head around, finds herself, and bursts out laughing. Needless to say, we get a lot of mirror time in our house :-) Makes strolling around a lot more fun.

Who is THAT?

Lila is now strong enough and coördinated enough to spend some time in the Super Saucer. It took us a while to get this toy for Isaac, so he probably missed a couple of months he could have been in it, she's getting all her saucer time. It's especially nice when Isaac is very active: we move the saucer to the room in which he's playing and set it up. She can then watch the goings-on from an unässisted standing position.

In addition to the rather lame built-in attractions we add her favorite toys (for visual stimulation, motor skills practice, and to chew on just for thrills).

Sometimes she really gets enthused by the saucer, tossing her toys over the edge with quite a bit of force. Here you see Lila growling with pleasure.

Each of the kids is different, of course, and we find ourselves amused by how we react to them differently. We dressed Isaac in swatches of very bright colors, much like a professional rodeo clown :-) We're dressing Lila in girl clothes: and while I'm unclear on what's the story with the ranger hat you see above, I'm tickled by the faux leopard-skin print in which you see her below.

Her collar reminds me of something Elizabethen, but it's probably too early to get her dressed in Renaisannce Faire style. Á propos nothing at all, on the wall behind us is an early twentieth-century guidemap to the London Municipal Railway, the last map to show the stations and lines superimposed on a map of the city. Thereafter it was all done in an abstract style, as it's now done for most transit lines. The old style has charm, and is certainly more useful to the visitor.

We finish this page with a visit to the South Sea Seafood Village, on Irving Street. It's become a favorite of ours, with a great selection, good dim sum, a great staff, and the most extravagant chandeliers around. Who are those people on the right-hand side? Well, that's Ziggy Mo, my sister Felicia, and my father.

Please pass the Salt and Pepper Bass. See you soon!
