2003 Scotland: Ballachulish

It's morningtime at the Bappity Bowster. Frazier at the bar.

One of the locals, a Mr. Black, breakfasts at the Bap almost each morning after he rides over on a very practical folding bicycle. There's Lila having her own snack, after already going through the bangers, eggs, toast, etc.

On the way out of Glasgow we spy the famous opera house's little sibling.

If memory serves, this is one of the wonderfully soothing views on our way towards Ben Nevis.

We spy livestock, and deem it a fine time for a bathroom break. One of the differences between all of Scotland and the USA is that they have almost seamless cellular telephone service, while there are many dead zones in San Francisco (and whole swaths of signal-free parts of the USA). Here I am downloading my email on my Handspring Treo 180.

Just then the herds of goat are driven by. We all run through the muddy paths, following the bleating crowd. In short order, with the concerted actions of a few dogs, they're in their pens. The kids are beside themselves with glee.

Another incredibly view, worth a few minutes reflection, snack for the kids, and a potty break for the wee ones.

As we arrive in Fort William Rose spots some dark clouds from the car park (or in American English: the parking lot). Will be be rained upon? Luckily, no. We're tired, and we feast upon mild Indian food at the Everest Indian Restaurant. Very nice, indeed.

We're all used up. We head a few miles down the road to our lodgings for the night, the Farr Cottage Lodge, Corpach.
