1999 Austria / London / Munich: Munchen (Munich) 3

Just outside the city center, near the park I mentioned, where the buildings seem more like a financial district, we saw a seemingly-endless procession of bicycles. It was a pleasure seeing blue-collar workers in uniforms and white-collar stiffs in suits on two-wheelers. Of course there was a large percentage of students on wheels.

We followed the stream of bicycles until we came across light rail tracks, which led us to a more modern part of town.

Then we looped back around towards the old city, and came across a café in another plaza, sadly closed to us.

We wandered about for another half-hour or so, until it became darker yet, and we started getting hungry. My tourist guide mentioned several hofbraus that were well-recommended, and several Germans on our trip had agreed, and so we visited one.

It was amazing! In a monsterous main hall, shaped like an upside-down ship hull, around many dozens of tables were hundreds of exteremely intoxicated singers. The din was deafening. I imagine war parties celebrating much like this in the middle ages. In deference to our sleeping baby we took a table outside, on a two-story eating area surrounding several huge trees. There we could hear the music but also each other. The food was excellent, and Isaac got some toddling time in one of the less-occupied eating salons. Then we went back to the hotel and crashed.

The next morning we ambled one block form the hotel to the train station, and continued on to the airport. Our trip back was uneventful save a tumble Isaac took while running up and down the aisles with another small child (who pushed him aside to pass). Our boy has a tiny scar over his left eye, but you wouldn't notice unless you've read this sentence.

Back in San Francisco, on the family bed, Isaac waves goodbye and says "Thanks for visiting these web pages. I hope you enjoyed the trip I took during my ninth month. See you soon."

Have you found errors nontrivial or marginal, factual, analytical and illogical, arithmetical, temporal, or even typographical? Please let me know; drop me email. Thanks!
